A Thursday event at Rhapsody Victorian Coffee House provided a showcase for Governor’s Council candidate, Dashe Videira, a Franklin resident, to discuss her attempt to unseat long-time incumbent, Milton’s Robert Jubinville. Both hope to represent Governor’s Council District Two, which covers some 40 towns, mostly south and west of Boston.
Videira stressed her commitment to openness and the need to bring a fresh perspective to a government body that has operated out of sight of most citizens for too long. Governor's Council is focused on approving judges among other things. She is working on the tough task of getting voters to write her name and address on their Republican primary ballots – with her address – so that she can quality to be on the ballot in the general election. After her initial remarks, she was also joined by Marcus Vaughn, a Wrentham resident running for the position of State Rep. in the Ninth Norfolk District (representing Wrentham, Norfolk, Millis, Medfield, Plainville, and Walpole). Vaughn, also a newcomer to politics, is energized by the opportunity to share what he has learned in his career and from his “humble beginnings” to help the people of the district in every way possible.
Information on his campaign, which has a major fundraiser in Plainville this week, is available at https://www.vaughn4staterep.com.
