Daniel E. "Danny" Greenwood of Franklin and formerly of Harwich Port, Walpole and Norwood, passed away on Thursday November 10, 2022 at age 81.

Born in Norwood, he was the son of the late Edward and Claire (Sullivan) Greenwood. Danny was a 1958 graduate of Norwood High School. He went on to attend and graduate from Wentworth College. After serving a term in the United States Army, he went on to a long and successful career as Construction Superintendent with L.J. Reardon Co. in Norwood. Danny was a lifetime member of the Norwood Elks.

Danny was a proud Norwood resident of 15 Everett Avenue. He was a standout two sport athlete in football and hockey at Norwood High School. He went on to play many many years of championship caliber adult hockey until the age of 60-something. In addition he was a lifelong sports fan for many of our local teams and loved to watch his children and grandchildren play. His passions and hobbies included golf, boating, fishing, skiing and numerous construction projects around his two homes in Walpole and Harwich Port. His special spot though was “The Landing” at the end of Zylpha Rd. in Harwich Port especially after a nice Beach Day or during a good storm.

Daniel was the beloved husband of 59 years of Margaret (Brannelly) Greenwood of Franklin. He was the devoted father of Maribeth Mathias of North Attleboro, Sandy Stanton and her husband Richard of Franklin, Danny Greenwood and his wife Karen of Hopkinton. Daniel was the brother of Charlet McTernan of Wrentham, and the late David Greenwood and Janice Parkinson. He was the proud “The The” of Jonathan Mathias; Emily, Richie and Molly Stanton; Tess and Callum Greenwood; great-grandfather of Julian Zimmerly. Daniel was pre-deceased by his beloved grandson Patrick Mathias. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street (Rt. 1A) Norwood on Friday November 18, 2022 at 10:00 AM. Funeral Mass in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 547 Washington Street, Norwood at 11:00 AM. Visiting hours in the Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:00-7:00 PM. Interment Highland Cemetery, Norwood.
