In accordance with Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 54, Section 25B (a) (14), as amended by section 10 of Chapter 92 of the Acts of 2022, known as the VOTES Act of 2022, the Town of Franklin performed its post-election tabulation session for the November 8, 2022 State Election. Ballots postmarked by November 8 and received before 5pm on the 12th
were opened, processed and added to earlier vote totals.
And, noted Town Clerk Nancy Danello, all of those “new” ballots had to be hand counted.
Fortunately, she noted, there were not, too many. “We had roughly 30 ballots, post-election; once we have a total, we then add that count to all the hand counts from Election day to our tally sheet for final results,” Danello explained.
“I am ready to make my numbers official but I cannot do so until November 18, which is the last day to accept ballots mailed from outside the United States,” she continued.
According to Danello, all of the ballots are secured in the town’s vault. They are all sealed and will then be transferred to a locked area at the DPW that belongs to the Town Clerk's Office, within 30 days.
