Local members of the Rhododendron Needlers Quilt Guild (RNQS)will be represented in "A Community Of Quilters" Quilt Show - a showcase of over 150 quilts at Blue Hills Vocational School in Canton March 18-19.

Two guild members reside in Franklin. Diane Bell was inspired to quilt by some friends 45 years ago. She says “I love fabric and have been sewing since grammar school”. Lisa Steinka, the current RNQG president, was introduced to quilting by her mother over 40 years ago. She didn’t start regularly quilting until 1998 when she was tutoring a woman through a local ESL program and the woman in turn taught her how to quilt. Lisa became a member of the guild in 2009 and she says she continues to quilt “to challenge my creative side”. In 2017 she won Honorable Mention at the Houston International Quilt Festival.

Come see the amazing work of your town members and their fellow guild members at the show. The Quilt Show gallery of handmade quilts, in a variety of artful styles and colors, is open Saturday from 10am-5pm and Sunday from 10am-4pm. Admission is $10 cash or check.

Additional enjoyment at the show includes Raffle Baskets, Quilts for sale and on Silent Auction, a Raffle Quilt, Fiber Art Vendors, a representation of the approximate 100 comfort quilts per year donated to local community organizations, a Boutique of handmade items, including this year’s special Postcard Quilts and 12"x12" wall art quilts. There is a Sew A Block activity for anyone to try their hand at sewing and participate in creating a Comfort Quilt. Guild members will be available to answer questions and explain quilting, assist with the quilt scavenger hunt, and there will be periodic docent-led tours of the quilts.

"A Community Of Quilters" Quilt Show is supported in part by a grant from the Canton Cultural Council and the Sharon Cultural Council, local agencies funded by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency and Roche Bros.
