Joseph “Jay” Kevin Walsh, 67, of Franklin passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his daughters following a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Kathryn “Kathy” Walsh who died on December 31, 2022.

Born in Milton on March 9, 1955, he was the son of the late Joseph “Joe” and Mary (McCurdy) Walsh and stepson of the late Natalie (Thomas) Walsh. Jay was raised in Westwood and attended Xaverian Brothers High School and later Fairfield University. He and his late wife had resided in Franklin for the past 30 years.

In sales for most of his life, Jay worked as Vice President of the Carpet and Resilient Division at Allegheny Contract for the past 22 years where he forged many lifelong friendships. Prior to Allegheny, Jay worked as Branch Vice President for DuPont Flooring Systems.

Jay loved playing golf with his Sunday crew, enjoyed the occasional cigar and glass of red wine, watching all Boston sports teams while critiquing their off-season transactions, attending his children’s soccer and basketball games, perfecting his homemade mac and cheese, and traveling with his family on ski trips and summer vacations to NH.

We will miss him and his wildly dry and sarcastic sense of humor.

Jay is survived by his daughters, Kerry (Walsh) Vogel and her husband Terry Vogel of Milford, Courtney Walsh and Stephanie Walsh of Franklin. He is also survived by his two precious grandchildren, Grace and Caleb Vogel of Milford.

He also leaves behind his brothers Bill and his wife Lauren Walsh of Mashpee, John and his wife Jaynellen Walsh of Walpole, Mike and his wife Meg Walsh of Milton, and his sisters Mary Walsh of Norwood, Natalie Woodward of Norwood, Laura Schmatzler of Norwood, and many nieces and nephews.
