Robert Warren Sullivan (Sully), 80, of Franklin died peacefully February 24 at his home with his beloved family by his side. He was the husband of Sandra J. (Heaton) Sullivan for the past 61 years.

Born in Northbridge, March 12, 1942, the son of the late Charles and Antoinette (Bertone) Sullivan. Bobby was a lifelong Franklin resident, graduating from Franklin High School with the class of 1960 after which he immediately joined the Navy and served aboard the USS Canisteo, seeing much of the Mediterranean and attaining the rank of SK3.

After the Navy Bobby worked for a while as a baker at the former DeBaggis and D’Errico Bakery in Franklin.

Bobby eventually attended the Massachusetts State police Academy and went on to serve his community for 33 more years on the Franklin Police Department, retiring as Sergeant in 2004.

Bobby enjoyed collecting coins, feeding the birds, watching Westerns, studying World History and traveling to Las Vegas. On warm days Bobby could always be found sitting on the front porch with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Maureen Sullivan of Franklin,

Mike Sullivan of Milford, Irene Sullivan and her partner Pam Ross of Kingston, Francine Sullivan and her husband Jay D’Agostino of Bellingham and Daniel Sullivan of Franklin.

He was the brother of the late Lucy Rovani and Charles Sullivan.

Bobby is also survived by his grandchildren, Dustin Sullivan and his wife Alisha and Serena Sullivan of Franklin and his great-grandchildren Arianna and Robert “Bobby” Sullivan of Franklin.

His calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 2 from 4-7 p.m. in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 131 Main Street, Franklin.

Burial will be private and at a later date in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Franklin.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 20 Prospect Street, Milford, MA 01757.
