Rhapsody’s Counts on “FedEx Vote” to Get to the Next Level

One of the best kept ‘secrets’ in Franklin is Rhapsody’s – the “Victorian Coffee House” that also serves, teas, crepes, and sandwiches. Hiding in plain sight on East Central Street across the parking lot from the Municipal Building, Rhapsody’s is the brainchild of Michael Bernier, a veteran and former aerospace quality engineer. “I pursued my vision of what a coffee shop should be, merging ambiance, excellent service, and the best food and beverages available,” he said.

Customers are a loyal bunch. On any given day, one is likely to see many of the same familiar faces. And with good reason. A stable and enthusiastic staff not only aims for great food but great service – and consistency, he sais.

Bernier is now hoping to make the most of the loyalty he and his team have earned. Bernier has entered Rhapsody’s in the FedEx Small Business Grant Contest, a grant program started by FedEx in 2012 to award U.S. based small businesses with grants to enhance their businesses.

If successful, Bernier sees the capital infusion as a chance to expand the menu and staff up for additional hours. After nearly closing in December of 2021, during the pandemic, Bernier said he and his team and inner circle of customers, many of whom have turned into close friends, rallied and `vowed to do anything possible to keep Rhapsody’s open,’ said Bernier.

Those who have not tried Rhapsody’s are invited to drop in – and everyone is encouraged to “vote” each day on the FedEx website between now and March 8
