George G. Hamm, 95, of Medway, died unexpectedly on Thursday morning, April 23, 2026 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Nancy (Wetherell) Hamm for over sixty years until her passing in 2014.
Born in Concord, New Hampshire on April 28, 1930, he was the son of the late Wesley L. and Margaret M. (Grant) Hamm.
George was a resident of Medway since 1961. He grew up in Concord, New Hampshire and graduated from Concord High School.
George proudly served in the Navy during the Korean War and was an active member of the Medway VFW. In his later years he found a strong community of friends and peers at the Medway Senior Center where he was a regular and welcome fixture, discussing the topics of the day.
Before his retirement, he worked for many years as a mechanical engineer at Raytheon Corporation; he worked at Pratt and Whitney in Connecticut earlier in his career.
Home, family and community were important to George. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, gardening and doing home improvement projects. His kind, solid presence will be missed by all who loved him.
He is survived by six sons, Michael Hamm of Ware, Timothy Hamm and his wife Elizabeth Vago of Salem, MA, Allan Hamm of Milford, and Paul, Peter and Christopher Hamm, all of Medway; four grandchildren, Kathleen, Steven and his wife Meredith, Brendan and his wife Hedy, and Daniel; and three great-grandchildren Emily, Mila and Molly. A seventh son, Thomas Hamm died in infancy.
George is also survived his sister Geraldine Coty of Bow, New Hampshire and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by siblings Harold William, Wesley, Albert, Marion, Ralph, Eunice, Robert, Barbara, William John, Margaret and Joan.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, May 6th from 9am to 11am in the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway ginleyfuneralhomes.com immediately followed by a funeral service at 11am in the funeral home. After the service a collation luncheon will follow.
Interment will take place in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway in Boscawen, NH on Monday, May 11th at 1pm.
In lieu of flowers, expression of sympathy may be made in George’s memory to the Medway Senior Center, 76 Oakland St., Medway, MA 02053 or to a charity of one’s choice.
