Virginia Mae (Yankee) Bowen, 95, of Norfolk, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at her home. She was the beloved wife of the late Arnold Dalghren and William Bowen.

Born in Franklin on September 1, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Otto and Marguerite (Weber) Yankee.

Virginia was a resident of Norfolk since 1949. She grew up in Franklin and graduated from Franklin High School.

Before retiring, she worked as an accountant for various area companies for many years.

Virginia loved to play the organ, enjoyed ballroom dancing, riding carousels and traveling with her family, including the yearly Mother-Daughter weekend trips with her daughters. She also enjoyed doing word puzzles, embroidering, sewing, knitting, and was a member of the quilting bee at her church.

She is survived by two daughters, Leslie Dalghren of Nashua, New Hampshire and Christine Holden and her husband Jim of Barrington Hills, Illinois.

She is also survived by two sisters, Alberta Stello of Franklin and Claire Oliversen of Schaumburg, Illinois, her brother Kenneth Yankee and his wife Robbie of North Attleboro and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, March 20 from Noon – 1:30 p.m. in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main Street (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) followed by a funeral service at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Union Street Cemetery in Franklin.
