Robert W. "Bob" Oakes, 88

Robert W. "Bob" Oakes passed away peacefully on March 18, 2023 at the age of 88.

Robert was born on December 16, 1934 to David H. Oakes and Sarah T. Oakes (nee Thomson) of Mechanicville, NY. Bob went through the Mechanicville publics schools. After graduation Bob attended Elgin Watchmakers College then went to work for Western Electric. In 1958 Bob joined the US Air Force and retired an Airman First Class in 1962. After serving his country, Bob returned to Western Electric where he met his future wife Joan (Foster of Menands, NY) and in January 1964 they were married, settled in Menands, NY and had two children (Sabrina and Robert Jr.). Bob retired from AT&T (formerly Wester Electric) in the late 1980’s at which time Bob and his wife Joan did some travel and were active in the Elks Club.

Joan passed in 2014 and Bob stayed living in Menands, NY until he moved to Franklin, MA in 2020 to be near his son and family.

Bob leaves behind his daughter Sabrina Ann of Schenectady, New York his son Rob, daughter in law Kristin and two grandchildren Tyler and Emma all of Franklin, MA.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a grave side service on Friday, March 24 at 1:30 p.m. in Memory Gardens 983 Watervliet-Shaker Road Albany, NY 12205.
