Above...incident #1 involved the Plimpton Street Bridge in Walpole.

A spokesperson for the MBTA has confirmed that service on the Franklin Line was impacted on Wednesday,  May 24, 2023 by two separate incidents where a vehicle struck a rail bridge.

The first incident occurred at just after 2:00pm when a vehicle struck the Plimpton Street Bridge in Walpole. Passengers on Franklin train 715 were accommodated by a shuttle from Norwood Central to Franklin and train 752 was cancelled. Separately, another vehicle struck the East Street Bridge in Dedham at approximately 3:15pm. Passengers on train 753 were accommodated by a bus from Endicott to Franklin and trains 755, 756 and 757 were cancelled.

Crews responded and made repairs to both allowing regular service to resume before 5:00 pm but the confusion disrupted scheduled trains on the Framingham Line, as equipment was redeployed.

Just last week, Monday, May 15,  the East Street bridge, in Dedham, was struck causing severe delays and forcing trains to operate at a reduced speed.
