Katharine Mullin Smith

March 9,1933-June 4 2023

Katharine passed away peacefully in Franklin, MA at Magnolia Heights. She was welcomed to Heaven by her late husband Paul (2005) and her late daughter Gretchen (2019) as well as other departed loved ones.

Katharine was born in Wellesley Massachusetts and grew up there with her parents Katharine and Joseph and her brother Gerald. She attended Academy of the Assumption high school in Wellesley Hills where she was a noted member of the "8:29 track team (arriving to 8:30 class on time). She attended Mount Aloysius college in Cresson, Pennsylvania.

Katharine met her husband Paul at MIT where he was working at the time. Family members recall the oft-told story of how they met: she tried to con a swimming pool pass from him.

They were happily married, November 28, 1959, and raised three girls in Newton before retiring to Mashpee. Katherine worked for many years as secretary to the superintendent of Wellesley Municipal Light and Public Works Department.

Kathy, or Mimi as she was known, enjoyed tanning and swimming at beaches near and far. She loved walking on the Cape Cod Canal and local consignment shops where she both shopped and worked.

She is survived by her daughters Karen (Stephen) and Hilary (Gina) and her son in law Gerard (Gretchen).

She was a loving Mimi to Terrence, Patrick Matthew, Brinley, and Nate.

Katherine was never without a Starlight mint, a smile, a warm fleece, and a compliment for others. She will be missed dearly and remembered fondly.

Graveside Service was held Jun. 8, 2023 at 12:30 p.m. at Massachusetts National Cemetery
