With great sorrow, we announce the passing of Arthur Ritchey Stagg Jr., M.D. on June 22, 2023. Dr. Stagg was not only a respected physician but also a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Born on November 4, 1938, in Natick, MA, Dr. Stagg received his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College and his medical degree from Harvard University. He met his beloved wife, Lois, during her nursing rotation at Medfield State Hospital, and they were married for 56 years. After completing his residency and fellowship training at Los Angeles County Hospital in 1964, Dr. Stagg served as a Captain in the Air Force, stationed at Tyndall Air Force Base in Panama City, Florida. Following his discharge, he joined his father in family practice in Medfield, MA. Dr. Stagg is survived by his loving wife Lois Francine Payne and their two sons, Peter Stagg and his wife Kim Stagg of Norfolk, MA, and Greg Stagg and his wife Tracy Stagg of Grapevine, TX. He was a devoted grandfather to Ryann and Brooke Stagg, and Sydney & Grant Stagg.
While Dr. Stagg achieved many professional milestones, his family always remained his top priority, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He was known for his gentle demeanor, unwavering dedication to his patients, and commitment to improving the lives of others.
Dr. Stagg passed away peacefully at the Enclave in Franklin, surrounded by his siblings Chris and Nancy and other loved ones. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and the countless lives he touched throughout his remarkable life.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, June 30th, from 4 to 7 pm at the Roberts Mitchell Caruso Funeral Home in Medfield. The funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, July 1st, at 10:00 am at St. Edwards Parish, 133 Spring Street in Medfield.
