No More 24/7 CVS

The CVS on East Central Street has long been a favorite with insomniacs and people with an immediate need for a medical product or prescription at any time of the day or night.

Now, not so much.

It started last year with the pharmacy within CVS/East Central closing for "lunch" for an hour in the early afternoon. But in recent days, the location, which has been nominally a 24-hour operation for perhaps a decade or more, suddenly slashed its overnight hours and further restricted hours of the pharmacy operation itself.

"In support of our overall retail strategy, we made some changes to hours at select stores in late March. These changes are part of the regular course of business and are being made to better support our store and pharmacy teams while optimizing productivity – both of which are critical to our long-term success," explained Amy Thibault | Lead Director, External Communications, at CVS heaquarters in Woonsocket, RI.

According to the CVS.com web site, the store hours are now 7 am to midnight, seven days a week. The new pharmacy hours are 8 am to 9 pm Monday to Friday,  9 am to 7 pm on Saturday, and 10 am to 7 pm on Sunday. In addition, the pharmacy is now closed for lunch from 1:30 to 2 pm.

"If a pharmacy is closed, a patient can visit any open CVS Pharmacy location for assistance with their immediate prescription needs," said Thibault.  "They can also use CVS.com or the CVS Pharmacy app to review their prescriptions, schedule refills, set up prescription delivery and more, at any time of day," she added.

The CVS Pharmacy at 137 South Main St., Milford and the location at 8 E Washington St, North Attleborough, continue to offer 24-hour availability (with the same 1:30-2 lunch closure as at Franklin).
