The Planning Board met virtually, via Zoom, on Monday July 10 with a light schedule.

The first item on the agenda, was a public hearing with regard to 15 Liberty Way, but this matter was continued to August 21, the applicant hoping to have completed a hearing with the Conservation Commission by then.

The next matter, under General Business, was discussion of a Field Change from Plansee, 115 Constitution Boulevard, a former EMC building. At the request of the Chair, Greg Rondeau, Town Planner Amy Love introduced the topic.

She said her office had been “kind of back and forth between the engineering side, with Beta as well as with our town engineer, Mike Maglio.” She explained that there were several proposed field changes “most of them are really minor...but we don't want them to come back with a four-page report saying what are these changes, so they're here tonight, on Zoom, to present the changes that they're proposing.”

The presenters, Town Engineer, and members of the Board spent the next 20 minutes or so discussing and reviewing potential changes including adding a small number of parking spaces, weighing the merit and needed height of sidewalk curbing as the parking areas is repaired and updated, and the merits of bollards and low fencing aesthetically and in terms of its ability to prevent vehicles parking in a way that overhangs the sidewalk, potentially raising ADA issues.

Specific concerns were also raised regarding the layout of the handicap parking spots.

But, for the most part, the discussion confirmed that Plansee is operating within the spirit of their approved plans. The meeting ended with the Board voting to approve the small changes as documented and leaving some freedom of implementation on a few points.
