On Thursday, the Zoning Board of Appeal will be hearing from applicant AVG Intermediate Holding LLC regarding a special permit for 648 Old West Central Street (same building as Starbucks) to open an UrgentVet facility.
The company has also recently been advertising for full- or part-time veterinarians for its Franklin location. The posting describes the practice as follows:
UrgentVet bridges the gap between daytime general practice and emergency/overnight care, offering after-hours care for canine and feline patients without the additional expense of emergency clinic fees. Our single-doctor shifts offer care for common urgent cases, including wound management, ear infections, vomiting/diarrhea, and euthanasia. Each of our paperless clinics is specially designed to deliver efficient care and equipped with cloud-based EMR, digital x-ray, and a full suite of IDEXX in-house lab equipment.
According to the UrgentVet web site, the company was founded in Charlotte, North Carolina, by Dr. Jim Dobies in 2015 and now has 57 locations open or opening (including one in Franklin, TN opening next month). That does not count the Franklin MA location, which is not yet listed on the company web site.
The company advertises basic visits for $99 and services available seven days a week.
