Be 'Franklin Cool’ -- Come to Tuesday's Conversation with Candidates
Tuesday, Oct, 17, at 6 pm, the Franklin Observer is hosting an informal gathering of candidates and voters at the Franklin Elks on Pond Street in preparation for the Nov. 7 town election. Co-moderated by Conservation Commission member Jeff Livingstone and Observer editor, Alan Earls, the format will be informal and in the round --and spontaneity will be welcomed.
“This year’s drought of candidates has given contenders less incentive to participate than in previous years,” noted Earls. “But the positive of that is we can have real conversations – not just canned questions and answers,” he added.
“So, even though we don’t have as much win-or-lose drama, we expect attendees and candidates alike to come away refreshed and excited about the work ahead for the Town of Franklin – maybe even with some new ideas and new understanding of each other,” added Earls.
To date, most candidates have not responded to any of the invitations. Two have indicated they cannot attend due to other commitments, namely Town Council incumbents Ted Cormier-Leger and Cobi Frongillo.
Those that have indicated they will attend include: Charles Bailey (TC), Dave Callaghan (SC), Brian Chandler (TC), Melanie Hamblen (TC), Dave McNeil (SC), Ruthann O’Sullivan (SC), and Chris Stickney (Planning Bd.).
In addition to candidates, the Elks has a cash bar and Observer will provide light food items.
The event is scheduled to run no later than 9pm.
