Old Colony Habitat for Humanity is hosting its first fundraiser for their next build in Norton, Massachusetts. Michele Roberts and Patrick Murray from Bristol County Savings Bank are the event Honorary Chairs.
While volunteers for Habitat can usually be found wielding paintbrushes and hammers, for this event, volunteers, sponsors, and donors will be hoisting their wine glasses to raise funds for the Old Colony chapter of Habitat. “This is our first fundraiser since I’ve been chief executive officer,” said Kim Thomas, the nonprofit’s chief executive officer.
“This isn’t your typical fundraiser as we have some fun ideas planned during the event to reinforce our mission and provide plenty of opportunities for attendees to learn and see what Old Colony Habitat is about.”
The fundraising event is taking place on Thursday, October 26th, at Lake Pearl Wrentham. Guests will have the opportunity to sample several wines and enjoy hors d’oeuvres and desserts. There will be plenty of mingling, the opportunity to bid on silent auction items, purchase a 2-night Newport getaway raffle, and a door prize game of guessing the number of corks to win a fun prize.
At the event, Habitat will be revealing the family partner who will be the receipient of the home in Norton. All proceeds from the event will be used to further the mission of Old Colony Habitat which provides decent and affordable housing in partnership with families in need.
Special thanks to all event sponsors--especially our $1,500 Presenting Sponsors: Bristol County Savings Bank, Whirlpool and the Original Congregational Church of Wrentham; and our $1,000 Signature Sponsors: LockeLord, Rotary Club of Mansfield, Walker-Clay, Inc. Mark and Nancy Kolligian and BNI All Pros. There are many ways to help support the event. Details can be found by visiting oldcolonyhabitat.org/2023-wine-tasting/.
Old Colony Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1989 as Attleboro Area Habitat for Humanity and is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, housing organization. Habitat succeeds in reintroducing into neighborhoods the most basic building block of any community – the homeowner. Habitat provides resources, guidance, and hope to aspiring families.
These families work from within their neighborhoods, creating the change we all seek, and repaying the investment that we have made in them. Our service area comprises 23 towns: Assonet, Attleboro, Bellingham, Berkley, Dighton, East Freetown, Fall River, Foxboro, Franklin, Mansfield, Medfield, Medway, Millis, Norfolk, North Attleboro, Norton, Plainville, Raynham, Rehoboth, Seekonk, Somerset, Swansea, Taunton, and Wrentham.
