Robert Lee Oliver, Jr. 79, of Franklin died suddenly on January 11th. He was the husband of Marlene S. (Jacobs) Oliver for the past 57 years.
Born in San Jose, California, January 6, 1945, the son of the late Robert L. and Madge (Short) Oliver, Robert grew up in Oakland, California and had lived in Franklin for the past 30 years.
He was a graduate of the California College of Art where he received both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees.
An exceptional graphic artist, Robert had worked for the TAB Newspaper for 30 years.
He has also worked for 15 years for the Educational Development Center who worked on the production of the PBS children’s television program ZOOM as well as many other educational initiatives.
A talented artist he enjoyed and made many visual art products including his own Christmas Cards.
He had also made special videos for the Advanced Painting class at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Matthew R. Oliver of Franklin and Joshua B. Oliver and his wife Meredith of Sandwich.
He was the brother of the late James Oliver.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Sabrina and Aidan.
At his request all services will be private.
