According to a recent report on Boston 25, and local parishoners, the St. Mary's Parish is going to have a special Christmas, escaping the confines of the church basement to hold the popular and well-attended Christmas Eve services at the Franklin High School auditorium at 4:00pm , a service reportedly to be attended by Archbishop Henning. There will also be 6:00pm and 7:30pm services in the Chapel and Sacred Heart Hall. Christmas Day services are at 8:30am and 10:30am in the Chapel and Sacred Heart Hall.

The main church was damaged by smoke and water as a result of a late-October fire that investigators have blamed on Arson.

According to Rev. Robert Poitras, quoted in the Boston 25 report, it was the generosity of the town that made possible the use of FHS. Although the Franklin Public Schools list a rental fee of $150 per hour for the facility, plus custodial and technical staff charges, Rev. Poitras confirmed on Dec. 24 that the fee was waived.

Observer has reached out Monday evening via email to the pastor for clarification but none of our inquiries since October have yet yielded a response.  Repairs are reportedly due to be completed by the Spring.

A spokesperson for the State Fire Marshal office said the fire remains under investigation.
