Dennis J. Drohan, 77 died peacefully in his sleep, Saturday January 27, 2024. Born in Milford, Massachusetts he wasraised in Franklin and spent the first 25 years of his life there before moving to Northern New Jersey spending the last 45 years in Clifton.

Dennis worked as a truck driver for Benjamin Moore paint in Clifton for over 30 years, retiring in 2010. He loved live theater and was an avid subscriber and proud donator at the Papermill Playhouse 35+ years. He remained close to his roots and his brother Bob. He enjoyed cheering on all the Boston Sports teams, and he really enjoyed watching golf, the Golf Channel was essential.

He was an avid storyteller and if you were lucky enough to catch his ear you would learn of him driving a diesel train engine at the age of 12, how Benjamin Franklin donated books to his local library, his young entrepreneurial skills in high school, Camp Denem, and the story of how three ladies walked into a bar, it was fate. You'd be sure to find him telling his tales, shooting pool and enjoying a Budweiser at the local post. He'd enjoy an Old Grandad as a night cap.

Dennis was a proud and active Freemason, he is a past master of Clifton Masonic Lodge #203 F&AM, a member of the Clifton Craftsman Club, the Tall Cedars of Lebanon Paterson Valley #33, a Past Patron of Clifton Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, and an ardent supporter of the Clifton DeMolay & Clifton Rainbow chapters.

Dennis is pre-deceased by his devoted wife of 47 years Jeanette (Berndt), and by a brother, Robert Drohan. He is survived by his son, Michael Paul Drohan, of West Virginia, by his daughter, Kimberly Venturella & husband Jeff of Woodland Park, by three granddaughters; Allanah Drohan, Mikala & Corrie Venturella, and by two sisters; AnnMarie Keegan & Karen Drohan both of MA.

Funeral services will begin 10:30AM Thursday at the Allwood Funeral Home, 660 Allwood Road, Clifton, NJ 07012 followed by burial at Cedar Lawn cemetery in Paterson. Viewing hours are 4 to 8 PM Wednesday with a Masonic funeral service at 7 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Papermill Playhouse in Dennis’ name would be appreciated.
