Today's Jamaica Plain VA Event Honors Viet Vets

Fri. Mar 29, 2024, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm ET at the Jamaica Plain Veterans Administration (VA) Medical Center located 150 South Huntington Avenue in Jamaica Plain, there will be a free commemoration event marking the date of withdrawal of the last US combat forces from Vietnam in 1973.

The event is being held in the lobby of the VA

  • 10-10:30am: Resource Fair & Snacks
  • 10:30-11am: In-person Town Hall with the VA leadership
  • 11am-noon: Speaker and Pinning Ceremony
  • Joint Military Honor Guard
  • Leadership and dignitaries from City of Boston, MA Executive Office of Veterans Services and VA Boston Medical Center, Regional Office and Vet Center
  • Keynote remarks by Bill Newell, Marine Corps Veteran of Vietnam
  • Vietnam Anniversary Pins and Certificates for attendees

Certificates, pins, stickers, snacks and cake also available at:

  • West Roxbury VA – 9am-3pm, Main Lobby
  • Brockton VA – 9am-3pm, Bldg 3 Lobby

Certificates of Honor may be obtained from Kevin.Burrill@va.gov, Brockton Vet Center, 508-580-2730 for:

  • U.S. Military Vietnam POWs
  • Unaccounted For Personnel (MIA families)
  • “In Memory Of” (for family of those listed on the Vietnam Wall)
  • Surviving Spouses

Veterans and family are invited to join the VA in honoring Vietnam Veterans, our fallen, wounded, unaccounted for, former POWs, their families and all who served in that era!

Locally, Veterans and supporters will be honoring the sacrifice of John E Pasquantonio who served in Vietnam. On March 17, the honoree was John J. Kell who served in the Second World War.
