AGAIN!

On Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at approximately 7:38am, according to a news release from the Franklin Police, the Metacomet Emergency Communication Center (MECC) received a call for a possible break in at the Moonlight Smoke Shop located at 447 East Central Street.

Upon officers’ arrival they observed the glass on the front door had been smashed and entry made -- the third such incident since early February. A witness reported a blue vehicle fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival. Officers checked the area and were unable to locate the vehicle or any suspects.

Officers and Detectives remained on scene and are investigating. It is unknown at this time what, if anything, was taken from the shop [as of the time of the release, early Thursday]. No further information will be released at this time as this in an ongoing investigation.

There were two previous break-ins at this shop recently, once on Sunday, February 4, 2024 and again on Sunday, March 10, 2024. Three juveniles were charged in relation to the February 4th incident. The March 10th incident remains under investigation.

According to a CBS report, the owners of the business are now considering closing after experiencing thousands of dollars in losses.
