Richard H. (Dickie) Esterly Jr., formerly of Franklin, passed away unexpectedly on May 15, 2024, at AdviniaCare Northbridge where he had been a resident since 2019.

Born on May 9, 1942, in Milford, MA, Richard was the son of the late Richard H. and Barbara (Jones) Esterly. He attended Franklin High school and worked for the former Garelick Farms for over 35 years.

Richard loved his hometown of Franklin. He played Town softball in his younger days and was a volunteer fireman. He was a lifelong fan of the Boston sports teams and enjoyed watching and rooting for the local high school teams. He never missed a day reading his newspaper and checking up on the scores. Richard was a hard worker, and in his 35 years working for the former Garelick Farms he only missed one day of work. He enjoyed listening to all types of music and went to many concerts throughout his life. Richard had great pride for his family and was a devoted uncle to his seven nephews. He had a great enthusiasm for life and a love for people and animals. He also loved going to the Franklin Senior Center and enjoyed the camaraderie of others, including being a member of the “silver tones”. After moving to Adviniacare, he kept busy with the many activities and celebrations they had throughout the years. Richard always had a smile on his face and a kind word to share and left an indelible mark on everyone he met. He lived a very fulfilling life full of love, happiness, and wonderful memories.

Richard was preceded in death by his sister Sally Ann Beaupre and his brother Steven Esterly, and is survived by his sister Pam Cybulski and her husband David. Richard leaves behind his nephews Allen and Michael Beaupre, Jared and Jacob Esterly, and Kyle, Luke, and Zac Cybulski. He also leaves behind the dearest of friends Anthony and Christy Esposito, and their daughter Rowan, who he considered to be his family.

Relatives and friends are invited to are invited to attend his funeral Tuesday May 21st, at 11:30AM from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St., followed by a service in the Franklin United Methodist Church 82 West Central St. at 12:30PM.

Interment will follow at Union Street Cemetery.

Calling hours are Monday from 4-7PM at the funeral home.

A special and necessary thank you to all the staff at AdviniaCare of Northbridge. For the last four years, you have given Richard a place to call home and surrounded him with love, kindness, compassion and the best of care. We are forever grateful.
