Management bullying against UPS Teamsters has consequences, especially when locals aggressively enforce the contract...According to a statement from a union source (still no response to an inquiry with UPS national management), Teamsters Local 25 is calling UPS to the mat for its harassment of Shop Steward Carlos Pina in Franklin, Mass. "Brother Pina has been the target of ongoing abuse and was assaulted by his supervisor at UPS Franklin on April 12," the statement claimed. Pina reportedly required medical treatment. Since this incident took place, the company "has doubled down by continuing its harassment against Brother Pina" Teamsters Local 25 came out in force to rally early Thursday morning at UPS Franklin in support of Pina and to demand that management stop its harassment.
“Our members will not tolerate this company’s bullying, especially when it uses discrimination to impede the work of our dedicated shop stewards,” said Tom Mari, President of Local 25 and Secretary-Treasurer of Joint Council 10. “We are determined to stand-up to this harassment and will be persistent in pursuing this case and will never stop fighting for our members. We are sending a strong message to UPS that Teamsters will not tolerate harassment and we will hit back at the company every time they violate our members’ Article 37 rights.”
