Michael William Barnett, 61, of Woonsocket, Rhode Island, formerly of Franklin, MA died suddenly on May 19 at Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket. He was the husband of Kathleen M. (Comer) Barnett for the past 19 years.
Born in Ipswich, England, June 24, 1963, the son of Helen J. (Clark) Barnett of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and the late William E. Barnett, Michael was raised in Abington and had lived in Franklin for many years before moving to Woonsocket five years ago.
Michael was a graduate of Cardinal Spellman High School in Brockton Ma , and received a Bachelor’s Degree from Penn State University and a Master’s Degree from Northeastern University.
Michael worked as an International Shipper for Thermo Fisher Scientific in Franklin, Ma.
He was an avid New England Patriots fan, but one of the greatest pleasures of his life was being a grandfather. His grandchildren all called him “Gramps”.
In addition to his wife and his mother he is survived by children Casey Wilder of Woonsocket, Jenna Wilder of Woonsocket and Emily Wilder of Cranston, Rhode Island.
He was father to the late Sarah Wilder.
He is survived by brothers Andrew Barnett and wife Suzanne of Leominster and Thomas Barnett and wife Kathleen of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
He is also survived by nieces and nephews Zachary Cox, Jacob Cox, Thomas Barnett, Timothy Barnett, Sarah Barnett, Samuel Barnett, and Evan Perry.
Funeral service will be held on Friday May 24 at 1:00.p.m. in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 131 Main Street, Franklin.
Burial will be private.
Calling hours will be on Thursday, May 23 from 4-7 p.m. at the Ginley Funeral Home,.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Parkinson’s Foundation , 200 SE First Street, Suite 800, Miami, Fl. 33131.
