Donald Peter Bukis, 88, of Medway died peacefully on September 12, 2024 at the Carlyle House in Framingham following a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Marylyn (Gormley) Bukis who died in 1985.

Born in Framingham, December 30,1935, the son of the late Peter and Anna (Shelales) Bukis, Donald was raised in Franklin and had lived in Medway for the past 67 years.

Donald had been a custodian at the Burke School in Medway for many years before retiring. He also operated his own industrial wallpaper hanging company with his Father.

Donald was a life time hunter and fisherman maintaining memberships at a number of area sportsmen clubs and was always willing to head out to deep-sea fish, or drop a line in a local pond, lake or canal. He was very proud to have brought both sons to Alaska to fish and hunt.

He loved to travel in general, locally and throughout the United States, especially National Parks in his later years. He loved his country western music, more so if he could enjoy it live.

Donald was a great dancer and could always be found out with a large group of friends on New Years Eve for the music, food, laughs, and dancing. Of all things though, he truly enjoyed being surrounded by his family and the people he loved.

He is survived by his devoted fiancé and partner of 28 years, Gladys Jacobs, as well as his children, Kevin Bukis and his wife Karen of Medway, Diane Bukis of Franklin, and Dawn O’Sullivan and her husband John of Upton; and his daughter-in-law Patricia Prewitt of Franklin.

He was the father of the late Brian Bukis and the brother of the late Patricia Ippolito and Eileen Brundage.

He is also survived by his grandchildren Beth Bukis, Katherine Gierer and her husband Andy, Joe Bukis and his wife Ally, Nicholas Bukis and his wife Rachel, Ryan Bukis, Padraic and Brian O’Sullivan, his great-grandchild Emersyn, as well as many nieces and nephews.
