We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Minnette ‘Jean’ Koffinke, on September 27, 2024, at the age of 85 from cancer. Jean was born on October 28, 1938, in Maryland, to Rose Chapin and Charles Koffinke. Growing up, she was known as a very bright, strong willed, and responsible young woman.

In March of 1966, she gave birth to her only child, Bill Koffinke and he quickly became the center of her world. While Bill was growing up, he showed an affinity to sports, just like his mother, so Jean would often take him and his friends on unexpected road trips to go to sporting events, such as going to Milwaukee to stay in the same hotel as the Boston Red Sox, multiple Boston Celtics games, and of course, her beloved New England Patriots’ games. Raising Bill as a single mother, they shared an unbreakable bond, filled with unconditional love, respect for one another, and cherished memories.

Once Bill had his only child in December of 1998, Carli Koffinke, Jean became an incredible grandmother. Following her retirement from TJX, Jean quickly offered to move into the in-law apartment of her son and his wife, Wendi Koffinke, to look after Carli every day when she got back from school. Jean and Carli grew a special bond. Not only did Jean teach Carli how to read, write, and do math, but she also taught Carli valuable life lessons, such as honesty, hard work, and independence.

In her spare time, Jean enjoyed reading, knitting, sewing, vacationing with friends, Sudoku, listening to Elvis Presley, and playing Bridge with friends. She was a smart, brave, strong-willed, independent, and selfless woman.

She is survived by her son, Bill Koffinke and his wife, Wendi Koffinke, her granddaughter, Carli Koffinke, and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, October 3 from 4 – 7 p.m. in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway ginleyfuneralhomes.com

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Minnette’s memory to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 220 North Main St., Suite 104, Natick, MA 01760-1100 https://www.cff.org
