Hagop O. “Jack” Eknaian Jr., 87, of Franklin, MA passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, October 19, 2024. Hagop was the son of the late Hagop Eknaian Sr. and Siranoush Eknaian (Zorzopian) of Franklin, MA.

He was a 1955 graduate of Franklin High School and went on to become a construction laborer of Local 609. He was a jack of all trades and master of all. After retiring from construction, he began working at Clark Cutler McDermott as a General Maintenance Manager until his retirement after 20 years of service.

Hagop was a lifelong resident of Franklin and very involved it the town that he loved. He joined the Franklin Auxiliary Police in 1970 became Chief in 1973 and retired in 1989. He was responsible for obtaining their first cruiser, acquiring an office meeting place at the town hall and welcoming the first woman member. He also volunteered his time for 20 years playing major rolls in all town activities and events. Hagop also was an active member in the Democratic Town Committee.

Hagop built the family cottage on Lake Populatic from the ground up and joined the Lake Populatic Association. He loved spending his summers there gardening and tending to his land. He had a green thumb, his gardens would always be flourishing, family and friends would surely walk away with their arms full. Hagop’s beloved dogs were always in tow.

Hagop is survived by his beloved wife Eleanor M. Eknaian (Annantuonio) of 66 years and their lovely dog Junie; his four children, Linda Lombardi, Joanie Giuliani and her husband Paul Edward Eknaian and his wife Gina, and Michael Eknaian; his nine grandchildren and their partners; and nine great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Wednesday October 23rd, from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. with visitation beginning at 9AM followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 1 Church Square at 11AM.

Burial will follow at Union Street Cemetery.
