FRANKLIN: James Quinlan

James "Jim" L. Quinlan of Yarmouthport, MA and formerly of Franklin, MA. passed away peacefully at home on October 27th, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 69 years, Catherine P. Quinlan, who passed away on May 11th, 2021. Jim was born on December 23rd, 1928 in Belmont, MA. He was the son of Edward and Marie Quinlan and one of eight children. Jim was a graduate of Jamaica Plain High School and a veteran of the Korean War.

He leaves behind five children: Patrick and Roberta Quinlan of Huntington Beach, CA; Regina and Bill St. John of South Yarmouth, MA; Steven and Julie (who preceded him in death) of Franklin, MA; Jeffrey and Andrea Quinlan of Coral Springs, FL; and Jennifer and Mark Denommee of South Yarmouth, MA. He was blessed with 11 grandchildren--Melissa, Katelyn, Beth Ann, Billy, Becky, Cameron, Nicole, Alyssa, Catherine, Cory, and Thomas--and nine great grandchildren.

As his children grew up, Jim was involved with many of the youth sports programs in Franklin as umpire, referee, and coach. He was an avid bowler and golfer throughout his life and a longtime season ticket holder of the Patriots. He worked for many years as the Plant Manager at Arrow Business Forms in Medfield, MA. Jim and Catherine retired to Cape Cod, where they enjoyed a long and healthy retirement, spending many summer days at Smuggler’s Beach and winters in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Jim was a long-time member of the Bass River and Bayberry Golf Courses.

We will miss him but take comfort in knowing he has been reunited with his loving wife Catherine.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass at St. Pius X Church at 5 Barbara St. South Yarmouth, MA. On Saturday November 9th at 11:00 a.m. Burial immediately following the service at the Ancient Cemetery in Yarmouthport, MA.
