To my supporters, particularly in the towns of Bellingham, Dover, Franklin, Medfield, Milford, Millis, Needham, Norfolk, Plainville, Sherborn and Wrentham, I extend my sincerest gratitude for your encouragement and your vote. Thank you to all those who volunteered their time to make phone calls, hold signs, knock on doors and who went out on a limb to talk with friends, neighbors and acquaintances about my campaign.
Thank you to my campaign team, who orchestrated this tremendous effort. Thank you to my husband, Mike, my children and all of my family for their unfailing love and unending support. I could not have done this without you.
While I had hoped to win, I am heartened by what we were able to accomplish in only nine weeks since the September Primary. Senator Rausch dismissed me and my campaign as not serious, but my presence in your towns, my calls, my outreach and winning some towns in the district proved otherwise. Winning 40% of the vote reported so far is a remarkable outcome given the extremely narrow timeframe.
I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to meet you and speak with so many of you and hear your concerns about how life has gotten harder for you in Massachusetts on so many fronts. We as a community are facing real challenges in the public school system, we are dealing with a mental health crisis and an immigration crisis, the cost of living in Massachusetts has become unaffordable, and our fundamental rights are under attack, in particular, parental rights.
What became clear to me through this process is that many people are unaware of the kinds of measures my opponent actually supports. Many of you were shocked to hear that with a bill that appears to add a couple of words here and delete a sentence there, Senator Rausch would give minors the right to consent to sterilization, abortion and preventative medical care without parental involvement. I believe the election result shows we were simply unable to reach enough people with our message in the time we had, because if they heard, I believe the outcome would have been different.
I extend my congratulations to Senator Rausch for her victory. I wish her and her family well. My hope is that she pauses and reflects on the message sent to her by a sizable portion of her constituents.
To be clear, this is not the end, but the beginning of a movement. Many of you told me you were not involved in local politics previously, I am grateful that you got involved this time. This campaign would not have been possible without you. I ask you to stay involved, hold your elected officials accountable, follow the bills they propose and make your voice heard when you support or oppose those measures. Get involved with organizations that demand transparency and accountability in government and those that seek to preserve our fundamental and constitutional rights. This is a call to action.
We must remain vigilant, connect with each other and spread the word. Our children and their future depend on what we do today. I am confident that if we commit to doing our small part, the impact will be monumental, and our children’s future will be bright.
With the foundation we have laid, the work we will continue and a spirit of hope and optimism, I look forward to the opportunity to be your candidate for Senator in the General Court in 2026!
May God bless each and every one of you, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the United States of America.
With gratitude,
Dashe Videira
