Mr. Winslow “Butch” Karlson III, 66, of Bellingham MA died unexpectedly on Monday (November 11, 2024) at his residence.
Butch was born in Boston MA, the son of the late Winslow Karlson Jr. and the late Lois E. (Mortensen) Karlson. He attended public schools in Franklin MA, graduating from Franklin High School, Class of 1976.
Butch was first employed as a young man as an attendant at the former Medfield State Hospital. He later became employed as a security officer at the former Wrentham State School, now known as the Wrentham Developmental Center.
Following that he began his career as a police officer working first as a part-time officer for the Wrentham Police Department and then as a full-time police officer for the Norfolk Police Department, retiring in 2015.
Butch was an avid golfer and also loved to play “poker”. He was also an avid sportsfan of football, especially the New England Patriots.
Butch is survived by his 4 children: Lauren E. Karlson of Milford MA, Jared W. Karlson of Milford MA, Jake D. Karlson of Milford MA and Jenna N. Karlson of Milford MA; his 4 siblings: Bruce Karlson and his wife Sandra of Bellingham MA, Diana Pasquino and her husband Michael of South Yarmouth MA, Linda Trites of Blackstone MA and Pamela Rizzi and her husband Robin Rizzi of Franklin MA; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews; his brother-in-law: John “Jack” True of Leicester MA and his former wife: Kristin P. (Knight) Karlson of Milford MA.
Butch was the brother of the late Sandra True of Leicester MA.
In accordance with his wishes cremation will take place. Relatives & friends are invited to attend his Celebration of Life at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA on a DAY & TIME TO BE ANNOUNCED. A Private Committal Service of his cremains will be held at the convenience of the family.
