Dean Holds Thursday Tree-Menorah Lighting

Accompanied by the seasonal sounds of the Dean College Chorus, above, the college community and residents shared the fun as lights came to life amidst a fading sunset and sparkling coating of snow around the college.

Free Friday Night Film Sponsored by Sons and Daughters of Italy

Quattro Eroi Lodge, the historic branch of the Sons and Daughters of Italy in America has announced that they are hosting a screening of the film "Cabrini," released earlier this year, on Friday, December 6, at 6:00 PM at the Franklin TV studio at 23 Hutchison Street (off of Union, near La Cantina).

The film depicts the life of Catholic missionary Francesca Cabrini, portrayed by Cristiana Dell'Anna, as she encounters resistance to her charity and business efforts in New York City. Cabrini explores the sexism and anti-Italian bigotry faced by Cabrini and others in New York City in the late 19th century. This is a free event and light refreshments will be provided. Everyone is invited. We do ask that you indicate an interest in attending (so we can properly plan for food) by sending an email to quattroeroi@gmail.com.

More on Molla

As reported previously, Paul Molla, a long-time member of the Franklin Fire Department is moving on the Medway. Molla said is becoming the Community Risk Reduction Deputy Chief in Medway. “I begin my tenure in Medway on December 30, 2024. Christmas Eve will be my last shift in Franklin,” he said. Molla has served Franklin Fire as a Call Firefighter from 1997-2001. He was hired as a full time Firefighter/Paramedic in Franklin on January 29, 2001 and was promoted to Lieutenant in July of 2020, then promoted to Captain in July of 2023. “It has been a wonderful run of almost 24 years and I have loved every minute of my time in Franklin,” Molla said. When asked what the new position entails, Molla explained that Medway has two Deputy Chiefs. The other role is Deputy Chief of Operations, which deals directly with the personnel. “My role will be inspectional, and reaching out to the schools, and the Senior Center, Commercial Plan Review, and so on,” he explained.

Reinstein at Museum Sunday

WCVB Journalist and author Ted Reinstein has condensed his countless travels around New England into a single, unique new book Travels through the Heart and Soul of New England -- Stories of Struggle, Resilience, and Triumph.  With his always flawless presentation skills, Ted will share some of the stories in the book and a bit about the process of gathering those
stories and creating the book. at the Franklin Historical Museum on Sunday.  The museum opens at 1, Ted will present starting at 1:15 and will be available to autograph books after his presentation. The museum is open until 4. Admission free, donations always appreciated.

Remember Pearl  Harbor -- Or at Least How it Impacted Americans of 1941

The story of the lives of three U.S. Army nurses who leave San Francisco for their tour of duty in Hawaii in December 1941 is told in the critically acclaimed "So Proudly We Hailed." The attack on Pearl Harbor changes their destination, and their lives.The movie was released in 1943 and is 126 minutes in length. The showing begins at 5 pm. at the Franklin Historical Museum, 80 West Central St,  through the Cinema 80 Film series is produced in cooperation with the Franklin Senior Center. The showing is free, donations always accepted.
