FRANKLIN: Craig Richard Gately

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Craig Richard Gately, who passed away peacefully on December 17, 2024, at the age of 68. Born on March 11, 1956, Craig was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Craig was the devoted father of Jared Gately and his wife, Erin, and Nicholas Gately and his wife, Tessa. He was also the proud grandfather of Tyler Morrill and Juliana Gately, who brought immense joy to his life. Though he and his former wife, Lisa Gately, took separate paths, they shared a lifelong bond through their family.

Craig was one of four siblings, predeceased by his sister Deborah and his brother Stephen. He is survived by his sister Chris Halowell and his brother Rick Gately, who will cherish their memories of him.

Born and raised in Lexington, MA, Craig carried the values of community and family close to his heart throughout his life. He later moved to Franklin, MA, where he raised his family with love and dedication. In his later years, he resided in Cambridge, MA, where he embraced new chapters while holding his cherished family connections close.

Craig will be remembered as a kind, thoughtful, and loving man whose greatest joys were being with his family and cherishing his friends. His warmth, sense of humor, and unwavering love for others left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

A celebration of Craig’s life will be held at the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St., Sunday, January 26, 2025 from 1-3PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his memory to a charity of one's choice.

Craig’s legacy of love and connection will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace.
