Ohanian

Michael J. Ohanian, Sr., 71, of Medway, MA, passed away unexpectedly at home on February 10, 2025.

Born on November 21, 1953, in Providence, RI, he was the son of Susan (Masoian) and Aram Ohanian. Michael grew up alongside his siblings, Seta and Tom, sharing childhood memories of fishing, sledding, and watching movies together.

Michael graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and then went on to The University of Rhode Island, earning a degree in Food Sciences. He spent his full career at Garelick Farms in Franklin, MA, where he worked for over 30 years as a Microbiologist.

Michael married Barbara (Bain) Ohanian, and together they had four children: Kimberly, Alexis, Michael Jr., and David. His children fondly remember playing Pogs, visiting the zoo, and exploring the lab with their dad.

Michael had a passion for collecting coins and trading stocks. He valued a strong education and financial literacy, instilling these values in his children. He was a proud father, and always wanted success for everything his children were doing.

He loved a good deal and was always thrilled to find one. He took great joy in hearing others share their own “I got a deal” stories, celebrating their success with pride and enthusiasm.

He also had a great love for food. In his younger years, he could eat enough for three men, and later in life, he especially enjoyed a home-cooked meal or dining out at a Middle Eastern or seafood restaurant.

Michael’s memory will be cherished by his ex-wife, Barbara; his daughter, Kim (Ohanian) Brissenden, and her husband, John, along with their three sons Matthew, James, and Ryan; his daughter, Alexis (Ohanian) Minot, and her husband, David; his son, Michael Jr., and his partner, Josh; his son, David, and his partner, Jess, along with their two daughters Alexis and Gabrielle; his sister, Seta Ohanian-Chateauneuf; his nephew, Nick; his niece, Jackie, and her husband, Shawn Searles; and his brother, Tom, and his wife, Lisa (Surmeian), along with their daughter, Eliz.

A memorial and visiting service will be held on Sunday, February 23, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, with remarks and reflections at 3:00 PM, at the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. Franklin, MA. All friends and family are welcome.
