To the Editor:
I frequently read the Franklin Observer and have been impressed with your impartial reporting. However, after reading today's article regarding a Summer Street proposal, I would like to point out a mistake in your reporting. Maybe you listen to the broadcast and take every statement as the gospel? If you had taken the time to review the application you would have discovered that I am not the developer nor am I the applicant. Both, my wife and I are on a form, that the Town requires to show ownership which is part of the application process. I can tell you over the course of these meetings reviewing the project my name has surfaced many times as the person bringing this proposal forward, I am not.
As far as my many years of donating my time to the Town of Franklin, roughly 30 years as an appointed member to the Zoning Board of Appeals and 25 years as an elected member of the Board of Health, I have also served as a member on the Franklin For All Committee and the Master Plan Update Committee. I am proud of that service and what I consider to have been knowledgeable, helpful and compassionate resolutions to residents that have appeared before those boards that I serve and have served on. I was told, many years ago, by a Town Attorney, that being a member of a Town Board, whether elected or appointed, does not take away yours rights as a private citizen. If someone feels as though there is some advantage offered to me because of my position or positions, then feel free to take it up with the appropriate authority.
As a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals, I'm proud of he fact that I have never missed a meeting since being appointed some 30 years ago. I take the commitment seriously and think that my record reflects that.
