Deputy Fire Chief Michael Fasolino Named Medway's Next Fire Chief

With the upcoming retirement of Fire Chief Jeffrey Lynch, we are most happy to announce that Chief Lynch’s successor comes from within the ranks of the Medway Fire Department. Today, Deputy Chief Michael Fasolino (above), a lifelong Medway resident, was named by Town Manager Michael Boynton as Fire Chief, effective September 9th. Deputy Chief Fasolino has been a member of the Medway Fire Department since he was appointed a Call Firefighter in August of 1989. He was promoted to Captain in 2000 and joined the full-time ranks in 2013. Michael was promoted to Assistant Chief in 2016 and Deputy Chief in 2018. Deputy Chief Fasolino completed the Massachusetts Chief Fire Officer program in 2023 and, since 2022, has served as Medway’s Emergency Management Director. He is currently completing his Masters Degree in Public Administration. Deputy Chief Fasolino will begin the transition period alongside Chief Lynch before the September change of command.

A Rose Turco by Any Name is Still a Rose

Senator Becca Rausch has learned what Franklinites have long known, namely that lifelong resident Rose Turco is amazing. In a Facebook post, Rausch wrote: Today we celebrate Women’s History Month by recognizing Rose Turco of Franklin! Rose was a beloved Franklin school teacher of 40 years and served as Vice Principal and Chair of the Math Department of Franklin High School. Rose has devoted herself to projects that honor Franklin’s veterans, including the Memorial Street Sign Project and the Veterans Memorial Walkway. Her efforts have helped create lasting tributes to those who have selflessly served our country. She is an active member of the Franklin Veterans’ Council and served on the Frances Eddy King scholarship committee. Thank you, Rose!

Turkey Plates for Mass. Drivers?

Yep, one year after announcing the Massachusetts National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) License Plate, the Massachusetts NWTF State Chapter has collected just over 260 plate pre-orders, leaving them with 490 more to reach their goal. Once 750 pre-orders are collected, they will be submitted to the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles to be printed and mailed to the registered participants. For state residents, it costs $40 to pre-order the custom NWTF plate. After, plates will cost $100 every two years, which covers the $60 state registration fee and a $40 donation to the Massachusetts NWTF State Chapter.  When the first 750 plates are punched, the Massachusetts NWTF State Chapter will be receiving $30,000 every other year, with the opportunity to increase as more plates are ordered.
