Multiple sources inside and outside town government suggest an imminent visit to Franklin this week by...either the governor or the Lt. Governor.... But Town Administrator Jamie Hellen, just returning from travel, has heard nothing and its crickets from legislators....
According to a WCVB report, dozens of residents came to the Franklin Common Sunday afternoon to show support to the Jewish community and speak out against hate. The event was organized by the Franklin Interfaith Council and Franklin Freedom Team in response to two incidents last week, the vandalism of a 'Stand With Israel' sign and its solar lighting apparatus near Temple Etz-Chaim, and a swastika painted on the sidewalk near a business owned by a Lebanese immigrant in the center of town. Police are continuing to investigate both.
From Friday April 11 through Sunday the 13th travel from Forge Park to Readville will be via bus, per the MBTA and published reports. Plan accordingly.
Announced via Facebook, to better accommodate older veterans, Franklin's Memorial Day Parade will be much shorter than in the past with no cemetery stops and no stop at the Dean College War memorial. Those services will be handled separately. The route starts at Horace Mann Middle School and continues along Union to West Central, Emmons, and then up Main St. to the Common.
After the 2023 Franklin municipal election, notable primarily for the dearth of candidates, the 2025 contest is hinting it might be more interesting with one or more Town Council incumbents likely to not run, and at least three or four individuals considering throwing a hat in the ring. And that's not to mention the two incumbents who may no longer meet town residency requirements.
