In response to speeding drivers cutting through the neighborhood, the Medway Department of Public Works (DPW) will install a speed bump on Coffee Street by the end of this week (April 21–25). To complete the work, Coffee Street will be closed between Ellis Street and Douglas Street. Traffic signage will guide drivers during the closure. The Medway Police Department will provide advance notice of the exact timing of the road closure. Town Manager Michael E. Boynton explains that this has been going on for about three years. "We take it up for the winter for plowing purposes. Coffee Street is a narrow street that often times ends up as a cut through for traffic avoiding Route 109. This helps to regulate speeds there," he said.
