FRANKLIN: Loretta J. Merrill
Loretta J. Merrill, 72, of Pomfret Center, CT, formerly of Franklin and Wrentham, MA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence.
Born on June 6, 1952 in Norwood, MA, she was a loving daughter of the late Ernest E. Merrill and Genevieve (Sprague) Merrill.
Loretta was raised in Franklin and was a 1971 graduate of King Philip High School. She worked for many years as the head cook at the Wrentham State School and later as a CNA in medical records at Maples Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wrentham.
She enjoyed golfing, bowling, and attending Boston Red Sox games, but above all, treasured time spent with her family-especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Michelle Daggett, and her significant other, David Burroughs, of Pomfret Center, CT. Loretta was the proud grandmother of Sagan Church and her husband Corey of New London, CT, and Nathaniel Woods of Putnam, CT, and the beloved great-grandmother of Isaac Woods and Lucy Church.
She is also survived by her siblings: Evelyn Desper of Cumberland, RI; David Merrill of Pawtucket, RI; and Elaine Reeves of Foxboro. She was predeceased by her siblings Eddie Merrill, Raymond Merrill, Susan Merrill, Linda Merrill, Richard Merrill, and Robert Merrill.
Visitation, to which relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend, will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Sperry-McHoul-Pichi Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro.
