Who's Afraid of the Dark? Not Library Patrons

Who's afraid of the dark?  Not Franklin library patrons apparently.

Sunday afternoon, according to two sources, the town's automated facilities management software, not for the first time, opened the Franklin Public Library even though Sunday hours ended in May.  The doors were automatically unlocked. But the software, perversely, made sure the lights were off and stayed that way, making much of the building pitch dark. And not a single staffer was present, but dozens of patrons, including families with small children went in and acted as if nothing were unusual; playing games,  holding meetings in conference rooms, and logging into computers.

One or two individuals apparently thought the situation unusual and one passed their concern to a friend who called a library staff member.

That staff member managed to reach the on-call member of the facilities department but was told the individual didn't have access to a computer and couldn't be of assistance.....The staffer then tried putting up more signs indicating the building was closed, to no avail and finally called for help from the Franklin Police who arrived and eventually shepherded the last of the unauthorized visitors out of the darkest recesses of the building with the aid of a flashlight.
