It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard “Dickie” Norton Koenig of East Falmouth, MA, formerly of Franklin, MA and Montana. Dick passed away on June 11, 2025, just 80 days before his planned retirement, at the age of 68.
Dick was a devoted husband, father, friend, and role model. He worked at Elaine Construction for 36 years, a career defined by dedication and integrity. He was known not just for his craftsmanship but for his willingness to lend a hand to anyone who needed help—always with a smile and no expectation in return.
Dick loved life’s simple pleasures: days on the golf course, time spent boating or at the beach, and the occasional Cuban cigar. He was also deeply involved in his children’s lives—coaching youth baseball, basketball, and football, and faithfully attending countless dance and cheer competitions over the years.
He cherished his summers surrounded by family, friends, and his loyal dog, Benny. Whether he was working on house projects or watching sunset from the deck with a cigar, Dick embodied warmth, laughter, and a quiet strength that left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
He survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Kathleen (Plakias) Koenig; daughter Karlie Patricia Koenig and her fiancé Logan Ambrose of Arlington, VA; son Jonah Richard Koenig and his fiancée Tori Anderson of Boston, MA. He is also survived by his in-laws, Greg and Pat Plakias of Falmouth, as well as many loving sisters- and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends across New England.
Visiting hours were held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, 11am to 1pm at Chapman Funerals and Cremations, 475 Main Street, Falmouth.
A celebration of Dick’s life will be announced soon. Hug your loved ones, play that extra 18 holes, and remember to always give them the bogey.
