The Data USA profile for Franklin,  indicates that in 2023, out of a total population of just over 33,000, some 3300 residents were born outside of the United States, and many of them are seeking to acquire or strengthen their English language skills.

The Franklin Public Library has a long tradition of offering free English language tutoring for those new to the English language, as well as English speakers who would like to improve their basic reading and writing skills. And the tradition continues...

The library is currently looking for more volunteer tutors for its English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program. If you want to make a difference right in your own community, this is a great opportunity!  To volunteer you should be at least 18 years old, have a High School diploma, and speak English clearly. No prior teaching experience needed and volunteers and students do not need to be Franklin residents. If interested, please register for a training session on Saturday, August 2 at 2pm or Tuesday, August 12 at 6:30pm and fill out the volunteer form.
