Not Just Bugging Franklin

Over recent days, a number of reports have cropped up on social media of one or more aggressive and suspicious "Terminix" salesmen showing up at Franklin homes, well into the evening -- and not taking "no" for an answer. An image captured from a posted Ring camera video is shown above.

We contacted Terminix media relations on Sunday but have yet to receive a response and we also reached out to Franklin Police and heard back from Deputy Chief James West who stated, "We have received several complaints from 7/17 - 7/19 regarding solicitors for a pest control company. Currently there are no active solicitor permits for any pest control companies. We encourage the public to notify us if they should encounter these salespeople so we may take appropriate action. We are also attempting to contact the company to advise them to stop soliciting in Franklin without the proper permit."

And, in the meantime, a Cumberland resident posted about a similar situation, one that resulted in police "picking up" the solicitor.  The poster wrote, in part, "Something a little concerning happened yesterday [Sunday] ….at around
2:30 pm in Cumberland Hill. A young man in Terminix gear approached
my front door. He didn’t see me in my front window, I had been
watching him canvass my hard and my neighbors across the street. I
opened the door to see what he wanted and I startled him – he was
asking for cash to treat my lawn for ants. I was saying I wasn’t
interested, [and] he was asking about my neighbors work schedule and
asking what cars the drove.

Red flags all
around.

(Eventually, after two homeowners filed reports with the Cumberland Police) the police showed up in minutes and in
no time they had picked up the kid-- he was a scammer!"
