The MBTA and Keolis Commuter Services (Keolis), the operations and maintenance partner for Commuter Rail, will implement further schedule adjustments on the Franklin/Foxboro, Fairmount, and Providence/Stoughton Lines beginning on Monday, September 8, 2025. These adjustments reflect the progress made by Amtrak in making repairs following a fire at a signal bungalow caused by a downed Amtrak overhead wire on August 1.

On the Franklin/Foxboro Line:

  • Inbound trains 704, 714, 1716, and 718 will see faster travel times between Forest Hills and South Station.
  • Trains 710, 724, 1726, 728, and 736 return to their normal route and will make stops at Forest Hills, Ruggles, and Back Bay.
  • Departure times have been adjusted on trains 736 and 1726.

On the Fairmount Line:

  • Inbound train 1603 and outbound train 1614 will be extended to Readville.

On the Providence/Stoughton Line:

  • Inbound trains 806, 810, 914, 818, 920, 824, 926, 832, 836, 840, and 848 will no longer stop at Readville.
  • All other Providence/Stoughton trains currently making an added stop at Readville will continue to do so in order to provide Franklin/Foxboro Line passengers with a connection to Ruggles and Back Bay.
  • Train 832 will return to its pre-repair schedule and will now now depart eight minutes earlier.

Schedules will be available soon at mbta.com/cr.

Shuttle buses will continue to replace service between Foxboro and Walpole on weekdays between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. to allow for construction of a permanent, accessible platform at Foxboro Station. Special event trains for concerts and Patriots games at Gillette Stadium will continue to operate during construction.

The MBTA and Keolis will also continue planned infrastructure improvements to prepare the Fairmount Line for battery-electric trains while Amtrak repairs are underway.

Keolis and the MBTA will continue to adjust service as Amtrak makes progress on repairs, with the goal of returning to normal Commuter Rail service for passengers as soon as possible. Passengers should subscribe to T-Alerts and follow @ MBTA_CR_Alerts on X for up-to-date information.
