MEDWAY: Virginia M. Nardini Alu

Virginia Jean Nardini Alu

October 12, 1932 – June 6, 2026

It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Virginia Jean Alu, who entered heaven on June 6, 2026 at the age of 93. Our family aches in her absence but is comforted by an overflowing supply of memories marked by her steady, loving presence.

Virginia (Jean or Jeannie) was born in Derby, CT to Michael Joseph Ragusa and Helen Ragusa. For Jean, she had many homes– Ansonia, Vernon, Avon, Newburyport, and eventually Medway, Massachusetts. For her family, home was wherever she was.

Jean married Dominic Joseph Nardini (Derby, CT) until he passed away unexpectedly in 1981. This deeply tragic loss could have broken the strongest of people but Jeannie single handedly rebuilt a family that would epitomize closeness for generations to come. In 1996, Jeannie rediscovered love with Frank Alu –gifting her growing family the added support of a life partner.

Jean found joy in rooting for any and all sports games, faith as a devout Catholic, and satisfaction in finishing a puzzle. She was a source of support and comfort for many whether during her time spent as a school nurse, or in her natural inclinations as a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Jeannie is preceded in death by her parents and siblings Joseph Ragusa and Grace Poeltl. She leaves behind four profoundly grateful children – Dominic and his wife Iris (Portland, OR), Kenneth and his wife Robin (Riverton, CT), Lisa and her husband Rikk (Franklin, MA), Barbara Jean (BJ) and her husband Brian (Norfolk, MA), 12 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren. Her family will cherish continuing the tradition of Sunday Sauce in her honor, although no one will ever come close to matching the “special sauce” that only Jeannie could make and possess.

Jean will be laid to rest in a private gathering at the grave site, surrounded by her family who misses her dearly.

The Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. is honored to assist the Nardini Alu family.
