LEBEAU SR., ROBERT A. “BOB” 78, of Franklin, MA, passed away at home on Sunday, June 7, 2026, just days after his 78th birthday. Bob was raised in Central Falls, RI, and most recently resided in Franklin, MA. He was the beloved husband of the late Deborah (Kite) LeBeau with whom he shared 50 years of marriage.
Bob was the second son of the late Wilfred and Annabel (Pearson) LeBeau. His brother Raymond LeBeau, Sr. (Helen) predeceased him in 2020.
In the mid-1960s, Bob heard the slogan “Join the Navy and see the world.” His career with the United States Navy began with basic training in San Diego, CA and then he did indeed see the world, serving aboard the USS Forrestal during the Vietnam War. He met his love Debbie at a bar in Quonset, and a wedding and little Robbie arrived soon after. Daughter Kelly was born a few years later, and Bob re-enlisted. Deb kept the home fires burning while Bob spent part of his second tour of duty serving on USS Guadalcanal in the Persian Gulf. As new orders were issued, Bob was stationed in Memphis, TN, Pax River, MD, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba (twice), Westminster, PA, and Virginia Beach, VA. Retirement and the move to Mystic, CT, brought the LeBeau family back to New England. Bob wore his USN Retired cap everywhere and enjoyed discussing his adventures and lifelong commitment to military service.
Bob was very proud of his children and celebrated their every accomplishment with a full heart. From color guard to community theatre, he took the chance to brag about them any chance he could. His “dad jokes” and colorful social commentary will surely fuel laughs for years to come. Bob is survived by his son Robert “Robbie” A. LeBeau, Jr. (Alicia), and his daughter Kelly Jean Steel (Michael).
Thirteen years ago, Bob embraced the role of “Pa” to Daphne Jean Steel. He adored her beyond measure and loved to bring her special gifts and treats, especially chips and giant lollipops. As with his kids, an opportunity to share her many triumphs was never missed. Bob beamed from the stands at many a recital and competition. She was his pride and joy.
Bob leaves his sister-in-law Helen LeBeau, and nephews Ray Paul LeBeau and Bill LeBeau and families. Bob was a Mason and member of Jenks Lodge No. 24 F & AM.
