Franklin resident, Deb Honor, registered for the Jimmy Fund Walk presented by Hyundai in honor of her mom who she lost to colon cancer when she was only 14 years old. Walking in her memory allows for Deb to “keep her with me and every step I take is a love letter to her.”
This will be Deb’s eighth year walking as part of the Remission Commission (above) and she is driven to participate year after year from the incredible sense of purpose, community, and hope that surrounds the Walk. She is inspired to fight back against cancer and to do all she can to “help all the families that might have more time, and so no other 14 year old has to grow up without their mom.”
The 2025 Jimmy Fund Walk will take place on Sunday, October 5, and raises funds to support all forms of adult and pediatric patient care and cancer research at the nation’s premier cancer center, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Whether participating for themselves, loved ones, neighbors, or co-workers, each walker shares a common purpose: To join together against cancer and support breakthroughs that will benefit cancer patients around the world.
Participants have the flexibility to choose from four distance options: 5K walk (from Dana-Farber Cancer Institute); 10K walk (from Newton); Half Marathon walk (from Wellesley); Marathon walk (from Hopkinton). Walkers can participate virtually, as well.
The Jimmy Fund Walk has raised more than $185 million for Dana-Farber Cancer in its 36-year history. Funds raised from the Jimmy Fund Walk support all forms of adult and pediatric patient care and cancer research at the Institute.
