FRANKLIN: Jean E. Somers

Jean E. (Griffin) Somers, 65, of Millbury, MA, passed away at home on May 5, 2026 with the comfort of her beloved family by her side. Born in Framingham, MA, on October 16, 1960, she was the cherished daughter to the late Matthew and Barbara Griffin.

She was raised in Franklin, MA and was a graduate of Franklin High School, Class of 1978. She attended Quinsigamond Community College and received her degree in Human Services. She worked many years as a PCA at Adcare Hospital and UMass Memorial Hospital where she took great pride in providing quality care to her patients. She had an insurpassable amount of compassion for others, both at work and at home. Her devotion to her children and grandchildren was never ending, as they were truly the light of her life.

Jean was a true warrior who met life's challenges with courage. Her faith in God guided her every step. Her sobriety of 30 years was a token of her faith and her true strength in recovery, as well as other life challenges she endured. To her family and friends, she was an amazing source of comfort, laughter, and unwavering support. Her nature allowed her to listen without judgement, and offer kindness always. Though she is no longer with us, her memory will live on thru the lives she touched, always remaining the heart of her family.

She is survived by her son Stephen Somers, her daughter Jessica Daigle and fiancé Matthew from Millbury, MA, her former husband Stephen Somers from Webster, MA, and four cherished grandchildren, Joshua Somers of Attleboro, MA, Shayla Hafford, Savannah Daigle, and Dayton Daigle, all of Millbury, MA.

She leaves behind her 9 siblings. Her special twin sister, Joan Doyle (Peter) of Bellingham, MA, Matthew Griffin, Jr. (Fran) of Norton, MA, Barbara Ann Ouillette of Longwood, FL, Ronald Griffin (Francine) of Medfield, MA, Robert Griffin (Cheryl) of Bellingham, MA, Roger Griffin (Sue) of Franklin, MA, Richard Griffin of Norfolk, MA, David Griffin (Cindy) of Holliston, MA, and Brenda Simoncini (Mark) of Blackstone, MA. She also leaves 19 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews and friends.

Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 19 in the Federated Church, 171 Main St, Franklin, MA at 11:00 a.m.
Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Millis, MA.

Calling hours will be held on Monday May 18 from 4-7 p.m. in theGinley Funeral Home of Franklin (ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 131 Main Street, Franklin, MA.
