Dairy Farmers of America Says No Impact on Franklin Plant from VT Closing

In recent days, the Dairy Farmers of America (DFA)  announced the closing of a Vermont processing plant and the layoff of some 80 workers. But that should not impact DFA in Franklin (still better known locally by its former name, Garelick). A spokesperson explained that tthe decision in Vermont reflects broader market conditions and how we’re aligning our network across the Northeast to best serve our farmer-owners and customers. Production from the St. Albans plant will transition to other DFA facilities in the region. At this time, there’s no specific impact to our Franklin, Mass., plant. We continue to support our facilities across the region and remain focused on maintaining reliable service for our customers and a stable market for our farmer-owners.
